Glympse goes multi-lingual – industry leading location sharing service is now available in four new languages
Localization support for global audience; Glympse surpasses 10 million users milestone
SEATTLE — August 16, 2013 — Glympse Inc., the mobile technology company that pioneered temporary real-time location sharing, today announced support for four new languages: Chinese, German, Japanese and Spanish to accommodate its rapidly growing audience. Available on Glympse for iOS and Android, the language-optimized app will allow users to view and share real-time location with others in their native tongue.
By providing language support, Glympse is able to better serve the needs of their user population, as well as attract new users worldwide. An estimated 40 percent of all Glympse users reside outside the United States, and Glympse plans to introduce additional languages, including French, Italian, Korean and Brazilian Portuguese, in the near future.
Glympse also revealed that the company now has more than 10 million users worldwide. The company has seen increased downloads in the last several months as consumers realize the value and ease of use in temporary, real-time location sharing vs. other services that require permanent sharing relationships or focus on public check-ins.
“Localized versions of Glympse are one of the most requested features by our fans outside the US. We’ve been working hard to implement and support those languages to better serve these users. We’re now enabling millions of users to engage with Glympse in their native dialect,” said Bryan Trussel, co-founder and CEO of Glympse. “These four languages are just the beginning, and we are excited to expand our services to encompass our increasingly global user-base.”
Glympse will automatically update the user’s language based on the preference set on their device; for example, a user who has set his native language to German on iOS will automatically view the Glympse app in that dialect. For users who prefer to use Glympse in English or in a language other than their default device language, all supported languages are available in the Settings screen of the Glympse app. All app store and market descriptions will also be fully localized to the various markets.
